May is here and it is almost time for the Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc., ballot and Mutual Protection Trust proxy. Members will start receiving their mailed ballot and proxy materials the week of May 29.

This month, our “Member Profile” column features a heartwarming story about two CAP members and their remarkable friendship. Dr. Colleen Coleman has been a CAP member since 2006, and Dr. Brian Dunn has been a CAP member since 2004.

This year, CAP celebrates 40 years of being at the forefront of providing superior medical professional liability protection through its flagship product, the Mutual Protection Trust (MPT). 

In May of 2015, Dr. Shazia Hyder was planning a vacation from her job at the Veterans Administration. It did not turn out as she expected. “Before I left, I saw my primary care doctor to get a screening mammogram, all the usual things you do after you’ve turned 40,” Dr. Hyder explains.
