
The Successful Practice Manager
The Successful Practice Manager is a free online practice management course developed by the Cooperative of American Physicians (CAP) to help independent medical practices effectively manage their administrative and business operations.
Discover six self-paced modules covering the critical areas of practice management: Office Administration, Human Resources Management, Business Management, Credentialing and Contracting, Billing and Reimbursement, and Financial Management.

- Lead administrative tasks to support physicians in providing quality patient care
- Implement HR protocols to manage staffing, workplace culture, and payroll efficiently
- Handle coding, billing, and collections to ensure timely payments from patients and payers
- Assist with business planning, contract management, and credentialing processes
By completing just six self-paced training modules from the convenience of your home or practice, you’ll gain a solid understanding of the policies and procedures essential for maintaining a healthy bottom line and delivering excellent patient care.

- Complete the required fields on the sign-up page to create your account on CAP’s online learning portal. If you have an existing account on CAP’s online learning portal, please log in before clicking the enrollment link.
- Once you have created an account, log in to your dashboard. The available course names will be displayed under the heading “Catalog.”
- Administrators, select the course titled “The Successful Practice Manager.” Physicians, select the course titled “The Successful Practice Manager – CME Version.”
- Click “Start” to begin. You can start and return anytime, but remember, the modules are in sequential order and cannot be viewed separately.
- Upon finishing the program, you will be able to download a copy of your certificate of completion and follow the process to receive your CE or CME credit.

American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE)
This program is approved as a learning event for ACMPE continuing education hours. A cumulative total of 50 ACMPE continuing education credit hours is among the requirements for attaining the Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) credential. To maintain CMPE or Fellow status, you must earn 50 hours of qualifying credit hours every three years.

MGMA members claiming ACMPE continuing education credit from a qualified education source must log their hours via the ACMPE tracking system. Hours from approved organizations will count towards the MGMA requirements, including towards the 12 MGMA live hours if in a live delivery format.
