Aging Population: Bringing New Pressures on Healthcare Delivery

A 2013 report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) predicted that one in five Americans will be a senior citizen by 2030 – nearly double the 12 percent in 2000. These statistics are corroborated by U.S. Census data, which suggests that, by 2050, 19 million – about 20 percent – of the U.S. population will comprise people aged 85 years or older.
