"Risks Associated with EHR Management" Presentation (Sacramento)

The Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP) is proud to join the Sierra Sacramento Valley and Placer-Nevada County Medical Societies in hosting a free, no-obligation risk management presentation designed to help physicians run safer, more successful practices. The program begins at 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated and is approximately three hours long. The program objectives are:
• Learn the perceived benefits of an EHR system, such as instant physician and patient access.
• Explore the risks to practice, physician & associated staff, in their established software programs.
• Discuss the differences between boilerplate vs. customized treatment plan templates. 
• Explore system issues with tracking and recall, audit trails, as well as direct communications with patients, care teams, and management.
• Discuss the pros and cons of e-mail including patient portal communication and documentation.
• Learn security best practices with an overview of HIPPA, HITECH and California Medical Information Acts.
• Formulate training requirements for periodic and regular updates, new enhancements and tools.
• Identify risk management strategies for documentation, HIPPAA, training, safeguards, and routines.
