Law and Motion Attorney III
Law and Motion Attorney III

Responsible for conducting legal research and drafting motions, pleadings on firm litigated matters.  Provide advice and assistance to attorneys through all phases of litigation including cost effective motions for early dismissal, trial, and post-trial motions.  An experienced legal draftsperson with highly developed legal writing skills and an in-depth knowledge of the courts as it applies to motion practice related to medical malpractice defense.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare pleadings
  • Provide support to attorneys as requested in litigation matters to successfully try and arbitrate cases
  • Formulate creative pleading and motion strategy
  • Obtain concurrence with claims specialist and attorneys for law and motion pleading and strategy
  • Attend court appearances and argue motions
  • Assist in compliance with the Defense Attorney Guidelines
  • Employee education and awareness is an important element in the company’s cybersecurity program. Accordingly, you are responsible for being cautious and vigilant when opening emails, attachments, links, etc. on CAP’s computer equipment or when accessing the company system remotely. Paralegal
Paralegal

CAP’s dedicated law firm, Schmid & Voiles, seeks a Paralegal for its Walnut Creek office to perform all duties related to preparation for and assistance in working a case up to trial; from pretrial, trial and post-trial activities, including but not limited to focusing on technology as well as conducting extensive research and document preparation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Summarize depositions, medical records, employment records, interrogatory responses, and prepare production of document requests
  • Draft objections; requests and responses; review and analysis of evidentiary items for trial; manage documents from formal discovery to present at time of trial
  • Familiar with discovery methods and scope of discovery, with emphasis on ethical considerations involved in the discovery process.
  • Prepare, troubleshoot, and assist with all technological aspects of demonstrative evidence for trials, including but not limited to software and equipment
  • E-files in state courts
  • Calendar court dates
  • Travel to and from court or arbitration/trial to assist attorney and provide set up for demonstrative evidence and technology
  • Create exhibits and other visual trial presentations as requested.  Set up audio/visual equipment for court/arbitration hearings
  • Assist attorneys in all aspects of trial preparation, including abstracting depositions and transcripts, draft  motions, prepare trial notebooks and briefs
  • Assist with the drafting of discovery pleadings and cost bills
  • Assist with research and analysis of statute and case law

Membership Services Coordinator II
Membership Services Coordinator II

The Membership Services Coordinator performs customer service functions to service external and internal customers via telephone and electronic means including, but not limited to, email and Microsoft Teams application, in addition to administrative and technical support to Membership Services Account Managers, Assistant Vice Presidents, Assistant Manager, TRIAGE Supervisor, and Vice President.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide service to MPT members and groups:

  • Maximize availability to take calls from Members and answer questions within level of knowledgebase and authority
  • Provide customer service support to members, their support staff, or management teams who call for service or submit service requests by email or US Mail.
  • Timely respond to billing, assessment, and other financial inquiries
  • Timely triage risk management and patient safety hotline calls per appropriate guidelines; follow prepared scripts to respond to requests for basic information, documents, and questions; enter information into Risk Management system as appropriate.
  • Timely triage claims reporting per appropriate procedures, input information into the CAP system, and forward information to the appropriate Claims Manager for follow-up.
  • Timely review and evaluate Coverage Update Forms (CUF) with emphasize on material changes reported by members.
  • As needed, handle overflow calls from other departments.
  • Provide technical support for Members Only, CAP Privileges Online and other www.CAPphysicians.com online systems.
  • Exercise reasonable judgment for the appropriate transfer of phone calls above a predetermined level of authority.
  • Timely process special applications, status changes including termination, retirement, disability, part-time, early cessation, non-private practice, coverage limits change, death, etc.
  • Timely process Employee and Other Related Persons Applications for review and approval by Account Managers.
  • Timely process and approve Locum Tenens requests within authority level.
  • Timely update special conditions and/or waivers in the CAP System.
  • Timely update member records in the CAP System in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Continuously, through the workday, monitor OnBase workflow queues and inbox, emails, physical inboxes (for US Mail), Microsoft Teams postings and conversations.

Miscellaneous:

  • Provide support to VP of Membership Services for projects as needed.

Education and/or Experience:

  • College degree preferred
  • Three years customer service experience in the insurance industry, healthcare field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Marketing Communications Specialist
Marketing Communications Specialist

The Marketing Communications Specialist reports to the AVP, Marketing & Corporate Communications. This position develops and executes integrated marketing campaigns to support and promote the CAP enterprise and its products and services; with an emphasis on concept development, creative, message development, and copywriting. Develops direct response marketing and lead generation campaigns and other forms of marketing and advertising creative writing. Works collaboratively with Corporate Communications team members and cross-departmental client stakeholders to develop and implement marketing and messaging campaigns and copywriting assignments across a variety of media to ensure effective target audience engagement and consistent favorable corporate branding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop concepts for, write/edit, and manage the distribution of marketing communication initiatives and materials including but not limited to direct mail, brochures, sales sheets, fact sheets, website copy, email campaigns, promotional items, educational assets/promotional articles, etc.
  • Develop print and web advertising concepts; handle copywriting, placement, and collaboration on art direction/design.
  • Assist with the development, copywriting, and implementation of CAP corporate communications activities, such as the annual report, monthly newsletter, and press releases.
  • Implement and track medical society and affinity partner sponsorship marketing initiatives and deliverables.
  • Develop and implement promotional campaigns to support CAP sales units – including production management, fulfillment, and mailing.
  • Assist with estimating and outside production vendor services as appropriate.
  • Develop and implement effective and appropriate marketing communication strategies and tactics for delivering key messages and information.
  • Develop and implement cross-departmental marketing and communications initiatives and support.
  • Campaign analysis and tracking.
  • Ensure that all marketing activities are aligned with corporate brand standards.
  • Cross train on and assist with CAP email marketing and social media creation and distribution.
  • Cross train on online education program development and implementation.
  • Employee education and awareness is an important element in the company’s cybersecurity program. Accordingly, the Marketing Communications Specialist II is responsible for being cautious and vigilant when opening emails, attachments, links, etc. on CAP’s computer equipment or when accessing the company system remotely. It is also the Marketing Communications Specialist II’s responsibility to complete cybersecurity training modules that are periodically distributed by CAP’s IT department.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field. MBA is desirable.
  • Five years communications/marketing experience with a corporation, nonprofit agency, public relations firm, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the healthcare and/or insurance fields is strongly preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities: 

  • Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Excellent grammar, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of how to and a proven track record of writing for a variety of formats, including direct mail, newsletters, print ads, and other traditional and online formats.
  • Knowledge of graphic design principles, typography, printing and production methods.
  • Ability to manage cross-departmental marketing initiatives, spearheading internal client planning and implementation activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with attention to detail.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of staff.
