WHAT WE DO FOR MEMBERS
CAP Risk Management & Patient Safety personnel assist member practices in developing mechanisms to prevent errors and/or omissions in these vital areas:
Development of good physician-patient relationships.
"Risk Management is the expert management of differences that may exist between expectations and reality."
Differences between expectations and reality often precipitate tension and, ultimately, claims. One of the most important functions of Risk Management & Patient Safety Services is to help physicians improve their focus on physician-patient communication, informed patient decision-making processes, complaint management and patient advocacy. Physician skill in these areas increases the likelihood that patients will have more realistic expectations regarding treatment outcomes. The above focus is primary in all the following CAP Risk Management & Patient Safety services and programs:
- On-site office practice risk evaluations
- Arbitration implementation (for office practice settings)
- Risk Management CME physician program accredited by the California Medical Association
- Risk Management programs for office managers and staff
CAP Risk Management & Patient Safety Personnel provide members the expertise of many years of experience in medical group and hospital risk management, office practice management, nursing, medical group administration, and continuing medical education programs.
