LOS ANGELES, May 17, 2018 – The Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP) today announced that its poster highlighting its comprehensive risk management residency training program has been selected to appear at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) Patient Safety Congress, taking place May 23–25, 2018, in Boston.

On-Demand Webinar: Key Strategies for Ensuring a Profitable Independent Practice
During this one-hour program, practice management expert Debra Phairas discusses how various business models and operational enhancements can increase revenue to help your practice remain successful in today’s competitive marketplace.

The IHI/NPSF event is the only annual meeting in the United States with a singular focus on patient and workforce safety. With keynote presentations from inspiring patient safety leaders, engaging sessions on safety culture and science, and an immersive Learning and Simulation Center, the event will address the collective vision of building and sustaining a culture of safety in healthcare.

“CAP, like IHI/NPSF, is dedicated to the empowerment and education of healthcare providers as they navigate a rapidly evolving and challenging industry,” said CAP CEO Sarah Pacini. “We look forward to advancing our shared view of safety and educating future medical leaders.”

CAP, a provider of medical professional liability protection and risk management services to nearly 12,000 of California's finest physicians, is working to bring practice management issues into focus by presenting a detailed poster called “Collaborating for Safety: Risk Management Education in Residency Training Programs.” The content of the poster stems from CAP’s nine-year collaboration with the Osteopathic Postgraduate Training Institute of the West (OPTI West) and is coauthored by J. Michael Finley, DO, FACOI, FACP, FACR, Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education, Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. The poster will be featured in the Learning and Simulation Center at the conference and outlines key takeaways for medical risk management professionals as they develop their strategies for effective practice administration.

“We look forward to educating attendees at this event, and underscoring the importance of a strong foundation for patient safety that should begin in medical schools and residency programs,” added Carole Lambert, Vice President, Practice Optimization at CAP.

Ms. Lambert is a member of the CAP Speakers Bureau, a group of preeminent experts and thought leaders in medical risk management, practice management, legal, and public affairs.
