Peter Mitchell is Chief Consultant of political and legislative operations for the Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP). With more than 25 years of experience in local, state, and national politics, Peter is highly regarded by business organizations, trade associations, corporate nonprofits, and labor groups in California and nationally. His nonpartisan and issue-education focus has been instrumental in protecting access to care and ensuring that CAP’s voice is heard -- along with the Californians Allied for Patient Protection (CAPP) -- throughout the halls of government.  

Peter will provide an overview followed by a Q&A session dealing with the following issues of concern to CAP members and all other private practice physicians:

  • CAP’s efforts to impact public policy as it relates to health care access, locally and nationally.
  • Review and preview of the 2013 and 2014 Legislative sessions in Sacramento and Washington.
  • Preview of  the 2014 primaries, elections, and the expected ballot initiatives targeting MICRA
